‘Trendsetters’ is the latest track from Spearside, an Irish alt-rock three-piece. This new track is a lightning bolt of punchy, frenzied punk that takes no prisoners, with nods to US garage rock clashing with big hooks. Despite the gritty energy of the track, the band aren’t afraid to lace this takedown of holier-than-thou ideologies with self-deprecating humour. They describe ‘Trendsetters’ as “a shameless pop song about the breakdown of a relationship, and an attempt to capture the energy the likes of Jay Reatard brought to this type of guitar music when it looked dead and buried.” You can catch Trendsetter live in Dublin this summer. -Dan Peeke
